Level 2 Award for Working as a CCTV Operator (Public Space Surveillance) within the Private Security Industry

COURSE DETAILS

 

To achieve the qualification, the learner must achieve all of the following 3 units:

  1. Working within the Private Security Industry
  2. Working as a CCTV Operator within the Private Security Industry
  3. Practical Operation of CCTV Equipment within the Private Security Industry

Essential qualification for those working or seeking work as a CCTV Operator in the private security industry. The qualification is a pre requisite under the terms of the Private Security Industry Act (2001) for individuals working as CCTV Operators in the private security industry to obtain a licence from the Security Industry Authority.

  • Understand the importance of communication skills and customer care;
  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of the CCTV operator and other CCTV staff;
  • Understand CCTV codes of practice, operational procedures and guidelines;
  • Understand relevant legislation and how it impacts on CCTV operations;
  • Understand the importance of communication within CCTV operations;
  • Understand emergency procedures in the CCTV control room;
  • Understand the characteristics of a CCTV system;
  • Understand health and safety relevant to the CCTV operator;
  • Understand how to use CCTV equipment;
  • Be able to operate the CCTV system.

What documents do I need to do the CCTV course?
In order to do any SIA linked qualification, you would be required to show certain documents these documents have been divided into group A and group B documents. If you have two documents from group A you do not need any other document. If you have one document from group A, you would be required to have an additional two documents from group B. Learner Entry Requirements for CCTV Course
CCTV operators are required to coordinate with emergency services. CCTV operator need to have good communication and conflict management skills. Qualified security operatives would be required to prevent and if required to manage conflict. To communicate clearly and effectively CCTV operator require good communication skills. Learners intending to join the CCTV course should have a reasonable understanding of English at Level B1 (Entry 3).
